Check the Register
To check whether you are correctly registered or not, please visit www.checktheregister.ie and follow the simple instructions.
If you have voted in the past, then you are likely registered to vote. However, I must emphasise that you may not be registered to vote in the upcoming referendums or the local elections, so please take a few minutes to check your voting status. You will need your PPSN and Date of Birth at hand. If you have changed your name or address since the last vote, then you must update these and will likely need you eircode, which can be found at www.eircode.ie.
If this is your first time registering, then you will need your PPSN and eircode to apply online.
The process is straightforward. Once complete, you will be informed at the type of voting rights that you have depending on your citizenship. To be registered for all types of voting, you will have ‘Presidential’ as your voting type. Those that can only vote at the local elections will have ‘Local’ as their voting type.
Please do not delay and if you have any difficulty registering, then please contact your local authority and they will guide you through the registration process.
